FIRST COLONY BECOMES RAINFOREST ALLIANCE CERTIFIED™
(May 22, 2007) NORFOLK, VA – First Colony Coffee & Tea Company is pleased to announce it is now Rainforest Alliance Certified™ and is committed to developing a line of Rainforest Alliance Certified coffees.
To become Rainforest Alliance Certified, coffee farmers, companies, cooperatives and landowners must meet rigorous social and environmental standards including maintaining natural vegetation, sustaining fair treatment and good conditions for workers, and conserving ecosystems. “First Colony is proud to support the Rainforest Alliance. As a grower-owned company, we know how important it is to support the coffee farmers, their families and their farms. It all starts with the country or origin and if they have the resources they need to succeed, we all win,” says Charlie Cortellini, First Colony President/CEO.
