First Colony Honored By Specialty Coffee Industry
(May 23, 2003) NORFOLK, VA - First
Colony Coffee & Tea Company received the first place
award for the best new packaging during the Speciality
Coffee Association of
America's annual conference in Boston, April 25-29.
Introduced in January of this year,
First Colony was the first coffee company to introduce
Kapak's brand new packaging
technology marketed under the name QuadPAK™.
In an effort update and refine
its line of product packaging, First Colony decided the
QuadPAK™ pouch, with it's
four panels and wider dimensions for better shelf impression,
was perfect for introducing the Columbian Collection. In
describing the new packaging's function, Charlie Cortellini,
president, said "we were hoping our new packaging, with
its cutting edge technology and colorful design, would be
appealing for all our customers." "Now, we know we've got
a winner," he said.
New packaging will be used in a wide assortment of branded
and custom gift packs from First Colony. These include bulk
coffees, brick packs, bulk teas, the Benchley tea line,
licensee Ghiradelli coffees, licensee liqueur-flavored coffees
and the extensive gift line.
